High Intensity Reflective Sheeting

ATSM High Intensity Reflective Sheeting (ATSM-H.I.) is designed for production of traffic control devices and consists of a spherical lens elements adhered to a synthetic resin and encapsulated by a flexible transparent sheeting having a smooth, flat outer surface.

1. Photometric:

(While typical values are much higher, the following are minimal values.)

After accelerated aging, 1000 hrs. minimum, 65% of values in Table 1 are maintained. (Orange 500 hours)

2. Color:

Measured with Federal Specification FO-85. Section 718.10(a) or ASTM D4956 or BS 873 Part 6 (Table 1).

3. Adhesives:
Pressure sensitive is the standard adhesive which conforms to Class 1 requirements and is designed to high speed production of traffic signs using mechanical squeeze roll applicators at temperatures over 65º F (18º C.).

4. Gloss:

Not less than 50 - ASTM D523 using an 85º glossometer.

5. Thickness:

Not more than .012 inches without liner.

6. Flexibility:

LS-300C, No evidence of cracking, peeling or delamination.

7. Shrinkage:

Not greater than 1/32" in 10 minutes nor 1/8" in 24 hours.

8. Solvent resistance:

LS-300C (3.6.2) passes all tests.

9. Accelerated aging:

ASTM G23, Type E or E11 1000. Passed 65% + minimum coefficient of retroreflection (RA). After 2002 hours not less than 50% of reflectivity values specified.
